Hey there 👋
“Deep-source climatology” is the perspective we are working to build: how processes in the deep Earth — volcanic degassing, subduction, the cycling of carbon, sulfur and other volatiles — shape climate and habitability at the surface. The journey from Texas to Guangzhou has paralleled an evolution in our science, from paleoceanography and paleoclimate toward biogeochemical cycles, Earth system science, and a more useful kind of paleoclimatology. We believe that understanding Earth’s past is, ultimately, a way of better anticipating its future.
